November 2024 Trails Talk
HOPE ROLLS & DCTB
DONATE ADAPTIVE RIDES
The DCTB’s summer fundraising collaboration with Hope Rolls raised $9,500 for trail development and provided a double gift of adaptive tricycles for twins Miles and Russell at Spirit Lake Elementary School.
Hope Rolls is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing adaptive tricycles to local children who are unable to ride traditional bikes, ensuring that kids of all abilities can enjoy cycling with their family and friends. In addition to their tricycle program, Hope Rolls is partnering with Spirit Lake Elementary to raise funds for an inclusive, fun-filled playground that will be fully accessible and empower children of all abilities to play alongside their family and peers.
The DCTB is proud to support this cause and looks forward to seeing the community come together for fun and adventure. To learn more about Hope Rolls, please visit their Facebook page for additional details and ways to support their mission.
FALL FRIENDS CAMPAIGN
We are excited to build upon the significant growth the trails system has experienced over the last few years, including over 15 miles of new trail development and a beautiful new trailhead in Spirit Lake. We could not accomplish all of this without the generous support of our donors.
The DCTB is committed to expanding and enhancing the trail network around the Iowa Great Lakes. With your support, we can continue to connect more communities in Clay County and advance the development of the Tatanka Ska Trace rail trail. Additional exciting projects include a beautiful sculpture trail in partnership with the Pearson Lakes Art Center that will offer a unique blend of art and nature, and a new trail in West Okoboji that will alleviate traffic on a busy street route while enhancing connectivity and the overall trail network around the lake.
It is Fall Friends Campaign season and we hope you consider joining Friends of the Trails. Your gift will enable us to enhance the quality of life in the Iowa Great Lakes while making a substantial contribution to the area’s health and economy. For more information on how you can donate to the trails, please visit our website at www.dickinsoncountytrails.com. We deeply appreciate the community’s continued support in helping us improve and expand the trail system. Together, we can make a lasting impact!
ENJOYING FALL ON THE TRAILS
There are still some beautiful days to appreciate before the snow settles in for the winter. Getting out on the Iowa Great Lakes Trails is a great way to enjoy nature while maintaining your mental and physical health as the temperatures cool. However, when the snow does come around, we will continue to keep you posted on our Facebook page about conditions on the beautiful cross country skiing trails at Brooks-Nature Center and Kettleson Hogsback.
As always, Happy Trails to You and Yours.
