2018 MAINTENANCE PLANS: DCTB is planning a number of maintenance projects for the 2018 season. This includes annual surface preservation of the Spine Trail that will involve sealing cracks and a fog seal. This work will take place from Highway 71 in Okoboji to 23rd Street in Spirit Lake. Continuation of maintenance work near Nature Trails (202nd Street, Milford) will involve replacing nearly 200 feet of trail pavement and will begin when weather allows. We will also be removing the old railroad tracks and replacing concrete on the Peoria Avenue spur just off the Spine Trail near East Okoboji Slough.
Trail maintenance updates will continue in Trail Talk and notification of trail closures will be sent out on our website, Facebook and DickinsonA!ert. Sign up to get alerts from the Dickinson County Trails Board delivered to your cell phone via text message by texting DCTRAILS to 69310 or visit www.dcem.us .
TRAIL SIGNING: We have been busy working on the sign inventory throughout the trail system. Over 500 signs have been cataloged and we will begin installing new and replacement signs this spring. This extensive project will proceed as quickly as possible with the goal to get everything in good shape this summer and help trail users find their way around the beautiful Iowa Great Lakes.
As always, Happy Trails to You and Yours.
