The Iowa Great Lakes Trail winds its way through the Iowa Great Lakes region, which offers plenty of outdoor opportunities for visitors. The multi-use Iowa Great Lakes Trail provides local citizens and visitors a safe place to bike, walk, rollerblade, run and cross-country ski.

The Dickinson County Trails Board will start its first maintenance project of the season on April 19 with the trail along 175th Street in the area of The Ranch Okoboji mini-golf park.  Anyone familiar with this area knows that it has been in rough shape for a few years due to water undermining the trail and sediment collecting at the bottom of the hill.  Approximately 500 feet of trail will be replaced with a new concrete section and a drain will be placed across the trail by the Ranch parking lot in order to get water away from the trail and into the ditch on the north side.  The grade and slope of the trail will also be improved to alleviate the sediment problem.  The work will close the trail for approximately two weeks depending on weather.
